11/1-Round 9 Bandits Cavalry Matchup Postponed
01/12/2011 5:50 PM ET

12 January 2011

The Australian Baseball League has postponed the Round 9 match-up between the Brisbane Bandits and the Canberra Cavalry that was scheduled to be played at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane this Wednesday (12 January) through Saturday (15 January 2011). The postponement comes as a result of the widespread flooding that has affected the South East Queensland region.

The ABL will make a decision on whether to reschedule these games at a later date.

While we understand some fans may be disappointed, the ABL regards safety as paramount, and as such could not justify placing any member of our baseball community in further unnecessary risk.

The ABL is therefore confident that this decision acts in the best interests of their fans, players, staff and more importantly, the wider Queensland community.

The RNA Showgrounds has been established as the 'evacuation center' for members of the Brisbane community affected by the flood, and as such, the Brisbane Bandits and the ABL will be on site at the venue this weekend providing much needed support to both the SES, Red Cross, QLD State Government and community in this time of need.

The ABL will also donate $1.00 from every ticket sold at all games scheduled to be played in Sydney and Melbourne Round 9 Series' to the 'Queensland Premier's Flood Relief Appeal'.
