ETSA Utilities named naming rights sponsor
09/16/2010 4:47 AM ET
Adelaide Bite is today delighted to announce that the naming rights sponsor for South Australia's team in the new Australian Baseball League (ABL) is ETSA Utilities, the States electricity distributor. The team will be known as the Adelaide ETSA Bite.

With excitement building towards Adelaide ETSA Bite's opening home series from November 11 against Melbourne Aces (the team will compete in 40 games this summer, 20 at Norwood Oval), the announcement of the new sponsor is timely.

"Baseball is the big winner with ETSA Utilities coming on board" Adelaide ETSA Bite General Manager Pat Kelly said.

"As an iconic company and the single provider of power in South Australia, ETSA Utilities is a perfect fit with the Adelaide ETSA Bite - the one team representing the State in the ABL and the team we hope will become a powerhouse in the competition".

"South Australia's success in reaching the Claxton Shield final last season and the return of baseball to Norwood Oval has generated plenty of public interest, and were confident the new league will entertain and excite thousands of fans of the game".

"Our top home-grown Australian baseballers will be playing with and against some of the worlds top baseball imports, which is sure to attract sports-lovers right from the first pitch".

"We're excited about the new league and the team we expect to put on the field" said Kelly, a World Series winner with the New York Yankees. "There will be something for everyone at Norwood Oval this season. Last season we had the best attendance in the league, and fans can expect even more from their experience at the ballpark this year".

ETSA Utilities CEO Rob Stobbe was delighted ETSA Utilities had aligned with the new baseball team and said, "We are proud of our reputation as a significant corporate citizen in South Australia and have long and fruitful partnerships with many community organisations".

"We welcome the opportunity to be principal sponsor of South Australia's side in the new national baseball competition, where the Adelaide ETSA Bite will battle against teams from all the major mainland capitals. The partnership also complements our support of other sporting-related activities, such as ETSA Contax and ETSA Park. It is just another way ETSA Utilities is making a difference in the community".

"I am looking forward to fun evenings at Norwood Oval, where Adelaide will have a new place to go for fun, exciting sport, something a little different and a new national team to support" Mr Stobbe said.
