Import Alumni Abroad


Baseball players from eleven different nations outside Australia have taken part in Australian Baseball League action since the league's inaugural season in 2010/11. Some of the best athletes who have come from as far away as Italy and South Africa have joined young stars from the United States of America, Japan, Korea, and more to make the ABL truly a world-class destination for baseball fans everywhere

TheABL.com.au will be tracking these import alumni players as they further their baseball careers around the globe. From Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball in the United States to Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan and the Korea Baseball Organisation, the world's best have taken to diamonds Down Under to hone their craft. From their days in ABL uniforms, many have already crossed the white lines into the game's highest level, including major leaguers like Didi Gregorius of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Donald Lutz of the Cincinnati Reds, and Brandon Barnes of the Houston Astros.

Below, you will find all import alumni players sorted by the ABL team for which they played in their careers in Australia. Player name links will take you to that player's ABL page. Parent organisation links will take you to that player's page with his respective league.

PLEASE NOTE that this list currently does not contain players who are signed with independent clubs around the world. Only import players signed with organizations of Major League Baseball, Nippon Professional Baseball, and the Korea Baseball Organisation are included in this list. Other former ABL import players, as well as Australians, are have played in independent leagues in Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, and more.
