The 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games saw baseball expanded to a 12-nation tournament.
When Sydney hosted the 2000 Games, professional baseball players were included in the tournament for the first time, and the United States took down international powerhouse Cuba for the gold medal.
The 2004 Athens Olympic Games witnessed a brilliant display by Australia in taking the silver medal for the first time in the nation's history.
A new tied-game rule was introduced for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Unfortunately ,Australia did not qualify for these Olympics, the final Games in which baseball was included.
