What is the Australian Baseball League?

The ABL is Australia's premiere professional baseball competition, and will enter its seventh season of action in October 2016.

A landmark partnership between the Australian Baseball FederationMajor League Baseball, and the Australian Sports Commission, the ABL features a 45-game season and serves to elevate baseball's profile on the Australian sports landscape as well as fuel participation in the game. The ABL seeks to showcase, on home soil, the enormously talented Australian baseball players who, for decades, have excelled on the international level.

What types of players play in the ABL?
ABL teams boast elite national players from across Australia along with personnel from Major League Baseball feeder clubs (Minor League Baseball), the Nippon Professional Baseball League (NPB, Japan), the Korean Baseball Organisation (KBO), and the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL).

The ABL will pioneer the pathway of development for many emerging Australian baseball talents, as well as offer a highly competitive alternative offseason league for competitions hosted in the northern hemisphere.
